Mission

The Tertiary and Post Secondary Education Service Unit is committed to providing opportunities to all Belizeans to have access to quality tertiary and post secondary education that will inform, reform and transform individuals into mature and responsible citizens.

Organizational

The Tertiary and Post Secondary Education Services (TPSES), also known as the Tertiary Unit, is one of the service areas under the portfolio of the Deputy Chief Education Officer with responsibilities for service areas.

Summary

The Tertiary Unit manages scholarships and financial assistance to Belizean students pursuing further education in Belize and abroad and scholarships awarded by the Government of Belize to foreign nationals to study in Belize; provides oversight of regulatory compliance and quality assurance in institutions offering tertiary education in Belize; liaises with tertiary education institutions, private and public sector partners and international governments and agencies on matters related to tertiary education and national human resource development; and conducts evaluation of tertiary level academic qualifications earned outside of Belize to determine recognition and equivalence in Belize.

CSEC and 2nd Year Tuition Scholarships to Belizeans pursuing Associate degree programs in Belize
Grants and bursaries to students pursuing tertiary education in Belize
Professional and Technical Scholarships
Scholarships to Cuba under the Cuba – CARICOM agreement
Scholarships to Mexico under the Belize – Mexico Education agreement
Joint scholarship programs with EARTH University (Costa Rica) and Santa Clara University (USA)
Stipends awarded to Belizeans studying in Mexico and Central America
Scholarships for English as a Second Language course at Regional Language Centre of University of Belize
