This morning, the Science and Technology Unit (STU) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology welcomed 100 girls from 25 schools all over Belize for the annual #GirlsInICT Day event.

This event featured exciting challenges and activities for the participating girls encouraging them to explore opportunities in the ICT sector. The highlight of this years event was a pledge to support girls in ICT made by all the participating stakeholders. 

We convey our appreciation to H.E. Damn Froyla Tzalam, Governor-General of Belize; H.E. Rosanna Briceño, Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Hon. Orlando Habet, Minister of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, government CEOs, heads of departments and all schools who were in attendance today.

Hon. Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology, yesterday welcomed Nadia Caliz-Martin, newly elected President of the Belize National Teachers Union, and the executive committee of the BNTU for cordial discussions at the Ministrys North Front Street Office in Belize City.

Minister Fonseca congratulated President Caliz-Martin and expressed his desire to strengthen the collaboration between the MoECST and the BNTU. The Ministry and the BNTU shares a similar objective which is to make education better for Belize!
